Community
Eyes wet with desperation,
I search for solace;
community.
Legs leaden from loneliness,
I despair of company;
community.
Hands trembling with weight,
I cannot but share;
community.
In the Mirror-part 5
The two girls ran and looked with awe at everything in the forest. They were so tired that they finally took a break. They climbed the nearest tree and sat in its high branches. Their eyelids had just closed, when they heard a twig snap. In a millisecond they reopened and looked around, instantly alert. A twig rustling in the corner of Adel’s eye caught her attention and her head turned in the direction of the noise. A girl about her age came out of the bushes. She looked about the same as them, except her skin was a light shade of brown. Catalina and Adel both froze in terror.
The Indian girl motioned for them to follow her, and being as stunned as they were, they obeyed. The girl started to scamper silently through the forest. Adel and Catalina had to run after her, and the noise was loud enough to wake the dead. Continue reading

Life
A question that breaths and blows
like a flickering candle among starlit snows.
A mystery and marvel that raves and rants
as thinkers ponder and academics chant.
A ripple that swims and seeks ever wider
larger, larger, it wrinkles brighter.
A simple smile seen in eyes spread wide
of a child who trusts in arms held tight.
These images quest and soar in flight
as my mind awakes in the morning light.
Eager Beaver
College, friends, aspirations, and dreams
litter the horizon of my inner landscape.
Yes, I am nervous
I’m plunging
my lone identity into a swirling
sea of striving souls.
How will I emerge?
Ideas, concepts, philosophies, and dates
threaten to crush my shimmering innocence.
I think I’m ready. Continue reading
Smile
A grey thought skips
across a bridge
sending tremors screenward.
Drooping eyebrows chase
two dimples down
spotlighting the little grey.
In response, a yellow image
leaps the space
yearning towards expression.
Sending muscles twitching
across the lips
signaling a smile born.
Dreaming
I dream of silent days and
I dream of peacful nights.
I dream of rambling rivers and
I dream of eagles flight.
I dream of desert days and
I dream of drier nights.
I dream of peaceful memories and
I dream of no more fright.
I dream of love that's lasting and
I dream of love that's sweet.
I dream of hearing laughter and
I dream of dreamless sleep.
Garden Safe
Sitting on a bench, hard stone
I stare through bars, iron cold.
I gaze at life, a vista green
and dare to hope, yes maybe dream.
Grazing in my garden, soft and safe
I watch with silent tears and wait.
These walls of safety, I can't escape
I fear to trust and risk the bait.
A reflection of an image past
a boy who thought true love would last. Continue reading
As I Give This Rose
Stepping out the back door, I drift
through fields of grey and day.
Watching the wind with searching
eyes a secret soul takes shape.
Blushing, scared, and silent shy,
a boisterous boy reaches rows of raging
red. A sea of roses, and petals of blood.
Thickets of thorns protecting crowns of love. Continue reading
Dim Lights
Amidst the aromas of excitement,
mingled with musical chords, coffee
and foam, smiles and laughter,
I saw the shape of a bleeding soul.
Naked and infected, I saw it in her eyes.
Right through the dim lights and playful
Christian banter,
I heard her scream.
It’s silence was deafening. Continue reading
